Ilay Botchan, born in October 2004, is a talented young Israeli surfer who began his surfing journey at a young age. Over the years, he has emerged as one of Israel's leading surfers, gaining recognition both locally and internationally.

Botchan claimed the title of Vice European Champion in the Under-20 category, a groundbreaking achievement for an Israeli surfer. This success secured him a spot in the Under-20 World Championships in San Diego, California, in January 2024, where he finished 17th out of 24 competitors.Botchan joined the Maccabi Tel Aviv Surfing Club, expressing his ambition to represent the club and Israel at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.He placed fifth at the European Championship for adults in the QS3000 division, marking a record-breaking achievement for an Israeli surfer in this competition.
Botchan achieved seventh place in the European Youth Championship Under-20 circuit in Spain, despite competing while suffering from the flu.
